Store Cattle - A sharp crispy morning on Clifton Road certainly created some 'steam' (see picture 2) both in and out of the ring as buyers were out in force (see picture 3) and more than ready to create a wonderful trade from start to finish, the 58 active ringside accounts all bid freely throughout. A much younger show of bulls fell on the year by £64 to £821 whilst heifers also dropped £40 to £842, thus said the butcher quality heifers were certainly dearer than we have seen for sometime, the steers however were nothing short of a remarkable trade as they rose by £62 to average £929. A top price on the day of £1240 was achieved by an outstanding Limousin bull from D Dixon of Middle Heads Farm, Rowley closely followed by two tremendous sorts; firstly a 14 month old Limousin Steer from A J Marr & Son, Old Ravensworth Farm and shortly afterwards a 16 month old Limousin heifer from F Ward, Rogerley Hall, Frosterley. Early in the sale some great breeding cattle from P T Makin of Roseberry Drive, Great Ayton sold very well, a 34 month old Limousin heifer and an 8 year old British Blue Cow both due in April to the Limousin reached £1250 and £1200 respectively.
