Store Cattle - Trade this week was unpredictable with the stronger short keep cattle seeming as dear as ever whilst some of the younger beast were harder to move, the native breeds do find a premium however that is only really apparent in the older beast at the moment; still a shortage of winter keep seems to be suppressing the trade for many of the younger steers and heifers. Young bulls this week were a much improved trade throughout, top price came from J M W Brown & Son of Haverdell farm with a 13 month old Limousin selling to A G Watson & Sons, Nunstainton Grange, Rushyford for £1065, the steer trade was led by an impressive 12 month old Limousin from J R & M Richardson of Etherley House, Winston which sold to S Wildman & Son, Chapel Farm, Selby for £1135 whilst the aforementioned heifers from Messrs Gibson completely dominated the heifer section.
