Darlington Farmers Auction Mart held their 4th Sale of Breeding Rams in conjunction with their weekly sale of Store Lambs. Forward were 1152 head.

Breeding Rams - A last chance for breeders and buyers alike to trade tups as the April lambers prepare to turn out, the best clearance rate seen all year as most found new homes. Top price on the day was a stretchy Texel shearling from D & P Heppell of Golden Lands Farm, Stanhope which sold for 420 guineas to K Cator of Stobb House Farm, Brandon Village. A trio of 3/4 bred Texel's from C S & V Whitfield all sold for 300 guineas or more whilst the top priced lamb came from D Dennis of Hill View, Over Silton with a tight skinned Charollais.

Store Lambs - The lamb trade took a lift this week with a full complement of buyers in attendance, the top priced lamb was a single Texel from H T Davies of Denton Grange, Piercebridge which sold for £73; close behind were three wonderful pens of Texels from A & R Thompson, Dimmingdale Farm, Moorsholm all over £70, their consignment of 100 lambs averaging an impressive £71.50.
