Breeding Cattle - The eagerly anticipated dispersal of the Bank Flow herd from C & J Donnelly of Great Ayton did not disappoint as the wonderful suckler cows and calves set the ring alight twice seeing bidding reach £2350. Firstly a tremendous 2012 born Limousin cow rearing fabulous twin bull calves shortly followed by another of the same breed and age with one very special bull calf at foot, Tom Quinn of Quarry House Farm, Wilks Hill stuck to his guns and fought off the competition going home with all five of the above mentioned beast; the Donnelly family's cattle were a pleasure to see and achieved an impressive average of £850 per life. Store Cattle - Some terrific prices once again achieved particularly for the short keep cattle and a very notable premium was obvious for the Aberdeen Angus sired stores on the day. Top price was a brut of a 22 month old British Blue steer from H Walton & Son, Brass Castle when he sold for £1300, leading the heifers was a very shapely 16 month old Charolais from E Parsons, Newstead Farm, Little Stainton which sold for £1210. The smaller cattle looked perhaps a touch easier than the dizzy heights of last week, no doubt the lack of rain recently will be holding back anyone still seeking grazers. A light show of young bulls were again a hot trade throughout, top of the pile a very well grown 12 month old Charolais again from E Parsons, Newstead Farm when he sold for £1190.
