Store Cattle – The final beast ever to grace the concrete of the Store Ring at Bank Top Mart, Clifton Road sold for a splendid £1550; all proceeds over £800 from the British Blue steer were a kind donation from The Bolton Family, Pea Flatts Farm, Chester-le-Street in memory of Reuben Walton to the Brain Tumour Charity. Great support from all corners of the ring was apparent before the hammer finally fell with the most fitting of last bids coming from Reuben’s daughter Emma, a fitting tribute to Reuben who tragically died in 2014, a gentleman who was a great supporter of DFAM, Emma with her mother Gillian and brother Simon very much continue to farm and keep Reuben’s memory alive at Low Hail, Hurworth. With generous donations and collections from various sources the worthy charity will receive a cheque from DFAM to the value of £1400.
Away from the donated beast the top price went to Darlington regular supporters D G & P D Ayre of Roger Moor Farm, Egglestone with a sensational 20 month old Charolais Heifer selling for £1265; all beast were well bid for and we sincerely thank all those who have supported us both buying and selling over the years, we look forward to seeing all customers old and new starting next week as we turn to the Humbleton chapter in Darlington Marts history.
