Show Cattle – Thanks to Mike Everatt of Goole for carrying out his judging duties impeccably, with some 11 heifers and 13 steers of great quality out for his expert consideration the vendors could certainly be very proud of their cumulative achievement; absolutely no doubting the Champion as he chose a beautiful 10 month old black Limousin Heifer from C R Raine & Son, Stanhope Gate, Middleton-in-Teesdale; the fabulous daughter of renowned stock getter Glenrock Humdinger oozed style, shape and character and was later bought by the judge for the days leading price. The reserve champion came from regular supporter N Swinbank of Cold Comfort Farm, Neasham; the red steer although small in stature was perfectly formed and looks sure to be a formidable force come the Christmas prime stock sales later in the year. The winner of the young bull class was a tremendous British Blue from B R Lawson, Buddle House Farm, Whashton, all muscle the wonderful example later led the trade at £1195 as he was rightly the top priced in this section.
