Show Cattle - Our judge Nigel Leighton of Fairfield Farm, Goole had a tremendous show presented before him including strength and depth with up to 14 in some classes; tapped out as his worthy Champion was the winner of the British Blue heifer class from the Stones family of Nun Cote Nook Farm, Marrick. The exceptional 10 month old jet black heifer was a daughter of the super consistent stock bull Lune Valley Forester and she went on to reach the day’s top price of £2050. The reserve champion also came from the Nun Cote Nook pen with their British Blue steer, a real carcase machine again just 10 months old he went on to be the day’s top priced steer at £1100.

Store Cattle - With over 60 vendors selling to no less than 77 active ringside accounts a busy day with 6 1/2 hours of selling was witnessed on Clifton Road for the last October suckled calf sale in our current location. The trade was buoyant as buyers return year on year to source some of the finest commercial cattle to be found anywhere in the country, averages as everywhere were back but all told only by £60 which compared to other centres was indeed high praise to our dedicated vendors and their high quality calves. The top prices were scooped by the Stones family (see above) however mention must go to Mr N Swinbank of Cold Comfort, G W Dent of The Bungalow and M J Marley of Holywell Farm who all produced amazing runs all worthy of winning shows come the summer of 2020. The young bull trade too was exceptional and a tremendous achievement for W A Richardson of Hutton fields who secured all three prizes in the show and seven of the top ten prices on the day with a run of well grown 12 month old Limousin's.
