On Tuesday 1st October Darlington Farmers Auction Mart had forward:
869 Store Lambs sold to £72
10 Breeding Sheep sold to £205
181 Feeding Ewes sold to £55
Given the undulating prime lamb trade the store buyers remain confident in a rise happening at some stage, plenty of outlets at ringside with the better shaped long keep lambs in the highest demand. Leading the way were a pair of Beltex lambs from D & J A Teasdale of Folly Farm, Crane Row Lane which sold for £72 per head, further Beltex from Northfield Farms sold well whilst the days leading Suffolk lambs came from J Walshaw & Son, Dryderdale Farm at £65.50. Mule lamb trade peaked at £57 from W Wearmouth & Son, Rose Hill Farm whilst the handful of breeding rams and shearlings also sold well on the day; a peak of £205 for a Blue Texel ram from M Lindley, Willow Dene.
